What is Insurance Bad Faith?

By Jeff Raizner | Doyle Raizner LLP

An insurance company signs a contract and took premiums. They have a responsibility to pay claims when it is reasonably clear and if it is not reasonably clear they have an obligation to investigate.

We see insurance companies comment bad faith in 2 ways.

1) They don’t pay the claims. They don’t do any investigation. They just stamp DENIAL.

2)  When insurance company do an investigation, they do not do a fair, honest, and reasonable investigation.

When they do these two things, they are just keeping money that does not belong to them. Insurance companies are just delaying, denying and setting up obstacles that prevent you from getting back to work (if it is a injury claim) or prevent you from getting back into your home (if it is a property claim or hurricane ike claim).

What we do, when we see this kind of conduct is we look at the details and file a lawsuit if we need to and help you get though this process.
