What is the Statute of Limitations?

Posted on 05/21/10 in Common Questions, Hurricane Ike Claims Deadline & Statute of Limitations, No Comments

A Statute of Limitations is the time period in which a suit must be filed or else it is forever barred.

You may still have time to file your Hurricane Ike claim, even though the September 13, 2010 two-year anniversary of the storm has passed.

In Texas, many insurance companies try to shorten the statute of limitations by a clause in their insurance policy. It will be one of the stipulations in the insurance contract, so you should have a lawyer investigate now to determine when you must bring your claim or file your lawsuit.

  • Is your Hurricane Ike claim still pending with your insurance company?
  • Has there been no settlement yet of your claims?
  • Is your insurance company giving you a difficult time?

If the claim has not been settled by the two-year anniversary of your claims denial and no suit has been filed, your claim probably will not get paid.

We are still accepting residential and commercial claims.
There may still be time, but it is running out!
